Weekend Workshops |
||||||||
The weekly classes are complemented by weekend workshops with visiting professional teachers, run by the ETS. Teachers that have visited in since 1998 include David and Biljana from London, Biki and Muso from Arnhem, Claudia and Esteban from BsAs, Martina, Bennie and Dries, from Amsterdam, Eric Jorissen from Nijmegen, Zoraida Fontclara from BsAs, Nestor and Patricia from BsAs, Yvonne Meissner, Amsterdam, Eduardo Aguire from BsAs, Pedro Andrade from Brussels, Rudolfo Aguerrido and Miho Omaki, Alex Krebs from Portland USA, and Fabian Sala and Carolina del Riviero from BsAs.
If you need advice on which class would be suitable for you , please ask at the practices. In general the post-beginners or improvers classes will be useful for everyone with less than 1 year of tango. The intermediate classes will be more challenging, but will be accessible to you if you getting the hang of it after about 6 months. The intermediate/advanced classes will be the most challenging.
Some classes you will need a partner, again ask around at the practices, or ask when you book.

Fabian Salas is one of the top tango dancers and teachers in the world, visiting Edinburgh for the first time as part of our mini tango festival.
"Tireless researcher and maestro, remarkable dancer and connoisseur of the secrets of tango - Fabián Salas has brought light to old beliefs and opened new ways in the conception of the dance, creating an unmistakable style of dancing the Tango. He is the vertebral column of Cosmotango®. He is acclaimed as a teacher and performer by tango lovers around the world. Fabián was a member of the original cast (1994-1995) of the award-winning (Best Musical) argentine tango show "Gotán", and also performed in the stage show "El Patio de la Morocha" (1993-1994) at the "Teatro Municipal General San Martin" in Buenos Aires. In 1997 he became one of the three principal dancers in the award-winning movie - "The Tango Lesson". Fabián Salas is the principal organizer of the Congreso Internacional de Tango Argentino (C.I.T.A.) - the world's most important annual event, which brings together in Buenos Aires all the tango lovers, practitioners, and the most representative artists of Argentine Tango. Carolina del Rivero started dancing at the age of 6. She was trained in ballet at the Teatro Colon ballet school. Later on she joined the Teatro San Martin school of modern dance. She's been dancing Tango for 5 years."

The Edinburgh Tango Society (ETS) invites you to the fifth weekend of tango and outdoor activities at the loch-side activities centre on Loch Tay. The weekend starts on Friday night and ends Sunday afternoon, and will include tango workshops in the morning and evening, dancing at night and outdoor activities in the day time. "The choreographic world of Jean-Sebastien Rampazzi has no boundaries. Although he initially was from the more traditional school of argentine tango, he now never ceases to open up new avenues and to incorporate his dance, with constant research, into a vast framework: that is one of contemporary dance.Impossible to label him, he uses skill to reveal his sensitivity. The apparent simplicity and ease of his powerful dance form is equaled only by his fluid movements. His creativity is renewed by the unending desire for new challenges. When he produces a show, one can only be bewitched and inspired by the intensity of his commitment.
Jean-Sebastien Rampazzi is recognized worldwide as a dancer, naturally, but also as an excellent teacher. He knows how to communicate his musicality, transmit his technique and to infuse others with his explosive energy. In an unfailing way, his generosity also has no limit. JSR is regularly on tour in the USA and Canada (Montreal, San Francisco,New York, Washington DC...) as well as in Europe (Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Norway...) and Russia.
In Paris he teaches in partnership with Celine and Damian. Collaborating with the duo of musicians Artango and the dancer Cecilia Gonzalez, he is choreographer and interpreter of the performance "Artango, bal-concept".
