Edinburgh Tango Society

Tango, the sophisticated and sensual dance from Argentina, is increasing in popularity in Scotland and Edinburgh. Argentine tango is the ultimate, intimate partner dance. It is not the ballroom tango of 'Come Dancing', but an improvised social dance with a rich musical heritage. The Edinburgh Tango Society promotes tango events in Edinburgh and surrounding cities, and organises workshops, practices and dances. Anyone can take the classes whether they have danced before or not. Tango is a challenging and intensely satisfying dance and music, but most importantly it is a social activity. The ETS is a great place to make friends and become part of the international tango community. For those from elsewhere in Scotland, there are now groups organising regular practices and classes in Glasgow, Aberdeen and the Borders.

Due to venue availability, the Counting House milonga will NOT be on on the following dates: December 6th, 25th & 31st. We apologise for the inconvenience, all the other milongas on Tuesdays and Sundays are on as usual. We also have a tango Brunch on 17th December and the last milonga of the year on the 27th. We'll make these two events special for you!

Queer Tango is Argentine Tango danced with open roles. The traditional gender-specific roles are rejected: everyone can lead and everyone can follow; anyone can dance with anyone else.
