Weekend Tango Workshops

Tango Weekend on Loch Tay

31 March-2 April 2006

The Edinburgh Tango Society (ETS) invites you to the tenth weekend of tango and outdoor activities at the loch-side activities centre on Loch Tay. This is a residential centre, full catered with facilities and instruction for outdoor activities such as skiing, canoeing, mountain biking etc, yoga, and a bar and dance floor for the evening/night. The weekend starts on Friday night and ends Sunday afternoon, and will include tango workshops in the morning and evening, dancing at night and outdoor activities in the day time. There is spaces for 37 guests, open to dancers from Scotland and visitors from the UK and abroad: we especially welcome visitors. The price covers accommodation, meals, outdoor activities and 4 hours of tango classes. The places will go on a first come first served basis open to all levels of dancers with at least 1 year experience. For the lessons the group will be split in two, both groups having 1 1/2 hour morning lessons on Saturday and Sunday, and each group having 1 hour on either Friday or Saturday.

PRIORITY BOOKING will be given to people who could not go on the Autumn trip. Since this trip is starting to attract more people than places I think this is the fairest way of manage booking. We also try keep keep a balance of Edinburgh dancers, and visitors, and of course of advance and intermediate /leaders and followers.

Jean-Sebastian Rampazzi

"The choreographic world of Jean-Sebastien Rampazzi has no boundaries. Although he initially was from the more traditional school of argentine tango, he now never ceases to open up new avenues and to incorporate his dance, with constant research, into a vast framework: that is one of contemporary dance.Impossible to label him, he uses skill to reveal his sensitivity. The apparent simplicity and ease of his powerful dance form is equaled only by his fluid movements. His creativity is renewed by the unending desire for new challenges. When he produces a show, one can only be bewitched and inspired by the intensity of his commitment. Jean-Sebastien Rampazzi is recognized worldwide as a dancer, naturally, but also as an excellent teacher. He knows how to communicate his musicality, transmit his technique and to infuse others with his explosive energy. In an unfailing way, his generosity also has no limit. JSR is regularly on tour in the USA and Canada (Montreal, San Francisco,New York, Washington DC...) as well as in Europe (Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Norway...) and Russia. In Paris he teaches in partnership with Celine and Damian. Collaborating with the duo of musicians Artango and the dancer Cecilia Gonzalez, he is choreographer and interpreter of the performance "Artango, bal-concept".
